Vivo has launched its latest competitor in the market, which is called Vivo T1x. Vivo isn’t usually associated with smartphones designed for gaming and performance. But that’s about to change with its T lineup of smartphones. Which are specifically designed for gamers.
Both the Vivo T1x and Vivo T1 5G are part of the Vivo T-series. And today, we will be reviewing the more affordable of the two – the Vivo T1x. It comes with Snapdragon 680 processor, 90Hz FHD+ display. 50MP primary camera and more for just under 12000.
All these specs look amazing, at least on paper. But does the phone perform as well as it should? Find out. Here are my first impressions of the Vivo T1x.
Vivo T1x Price and Variants in India
The Vivo T1x comes at a starting price of 11,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It is also available in two variants: 4GB RAM + 128GB storage Rs. 12,999 and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage at Rs. 14,999.
The phone is available in two different color options: Gravity Black and Space Blue. You can buy the phone online from Flipkart.
Vivo T1x Design and Build
Vivo has done a commendable job of transforming the T1x into a sleek and stylish device. Given its low cost, the Vivo T1x is an impressive stunner that stands out among its competition. You can choose between Gravity Black and Space Blue color options. We have the Space Blue color variant for review.
The flat back and side frames make the phone easy to hold. Due to the lightweight design of the device. It is easy to hold for long gaming sessions and dual viewing sessions. The back of the phone has a square camera bump in the upper left corner. This is where the rear camera module is located and you’ll find a Vivo logo at the bottom.
The back of the phone has a smooth finish, and that’s why it attracts dust and fingerprint smudges. I also found the phone to be a bit slippery, so it is suggested. That you use the phone with the clear case that comes inside the box for a better grip.
On the right is the power button that doubles as the fingerprint scanner and volume buttons. While the top houses the SIM tray. While the bottom side houses the Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and a loud speaker.
The T1x might not be the most attractive in terms of design. And build, but it certainly doesn’t look like a cheap phone. It’s reasonably thin and lightweight. And the build quality is what you’d expect from a mid-range phone.
Vivo T1x display
The Vivo T1x comes with a large Full HD+ 6.58-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The display offers a bright, vivid experience with rich colors and decent brightness.
The colors are nice, but again, it’s not the best in the price range. Yet, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly smartphone, this one will do. Since this is a gaming device, Vivo has ensured that it can provide gamers with a smooth. And enjoyable gaming experience with 90Hz refresh rate support. While playing video games late at night, users can turn on the blue light filter mode to keep their eyes safe. Also, there is an option to manually adjust the screen temperature as per your preference
While the single down-firing loudspeaker delivers decent sound quality. I’d suggest you use wired earphones for a more immersive audio experience.
Vivo T1x camera
The Vivo T1x has a dual camera setup at the back. It includes a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP macro lens You get an 8MP front camera for selfies. Now since this is a budget smartphone, I didn’t expect much in the camera department. Yet, things were not as bad as I thought.
The 50MP primary camera manages. To capture good shots with enough detail and sharpness in daylight. Images had good saturation and colors were close to natural. However, things take a complete turn in low light. As the light decreases, so does the image quality.
The portrait shot was just right-ish. The background blur was done well, but overall the bokeh effect didn’t look that good.
Coming to the macro lens, just forget about it. The shots taken with it were not usable at all. Images lacked detail and were not that sharp.
The 8MP front camera takes great selfies during the day. Selfies were detailed and sharp with natural skin tones. The better the light, the better the pictures can be.
Overall, the images turned out to be pretty decent for sharing on social media.
Vivo T1x Performance and UI
Now let’s talk about the highlights of the phone. The Vivo T1x is powered by a Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You also get a RAM expansion feature that can add 1/2 GB of RAM to the 4/6GB RAM variant respectively.
The phone glided through all day tasks, and I didn’t notice any major shutter or lag while using the phone. The phone was able to multitask and switch between several apps.
Now let’s talk about gaming, the most interesting part. I have tried few titles like Battle Grounds Mobile India, COD Mobile and Asphalt 9. All games run well on low to medium settings. BGMI got largest boost at Smooth Graphic + High FPS settings. While COD Mobile performed better at Low Graphics and High FPS settings.
You also get an Ultra Game Mode that focuses all the energy to improve gaming performance. Gaming Assistant lets you choose between three modes. When playing games: Battery Saver Mode, Balanced Mode and Performance Mode.
The phone runs on FunTouch OS 12 which is based on Android 11. The UI was also pretty simple and straightforward. One thing I didn’t like about the phone was that it came pre-installed with a bunch of bloatware. Good thing you can uninstall most of them.
Vivo T1x Battery and Charging
The Vivo T1x packs a large 5000 mAh battery that will easily give you two days of light use on a single charge. I got about 5-6 hours of screen time, which included some casual web surfing. Instagram scrolling, taking pictures, and playing games.
Now, if you are a heavy user, you need to plug the charger in the evening. The phone comes with 18W fast charging support. Which feels a bit slow considering the large battery pack.
The 18W fast charger takes about an hour and a half to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 percent. The phone also features VEG technology that automatically stops charging. When it reaches 100 percent to protect the battery from overcharging.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- 90Hz refresh rate screen
- Fresh design
- Good battery backup
Cons
- Only 18W fast charging
- No 5G connectivity
judgment
The Vivo T1x might not have the most impressive design, but the specs the device offers. At its price tag are undoubtedly impressive. Who would expect to see a mid-range Snapdragon 680. Chipset in an entry-level smartphone?
Throw in the big 5000 mAh battery and 90Hz display, and there you have it! A perfect entry-level phone. The primary camera also works pretty well. And I have no complaints about it considering the price tag.
All in all, the Vivo T1x seems like a great device that offers a good performance that is way above its class.
